Regatta is on the Tampa By-Pass Canal, at Harney Park off of Route 301. The regatta committee expects that Route 301 will be under construction at the time of the regatta and thus will be sending out directions and parking info in April.  Check back to the site for updated info as we receive it.

These are directions to the 2003 regatta: The Tampa Bypass Canal lies about 8 miles east of the center of Tampa's downtown district. From Interstate 4 (just west of the Interstate 75 interchange heading towards Tampa from Orlando), take Hwy. 301 North (exit 7 - formerly exit 6). It is worded "

Hillsborough Ave.
- U.S. 92 to Hwy. 301 North".  Drive north about 1 mile past the truck stop, past a traffic light to the entrance gate on the right just before the canal bridge. On the right, look for VP's Bar-B-Que and a sign reading Tampa Bypass Canal / Harney Canal Boat Ramp. There is an exit lane on the right for the boat ramp parking lot (for boat trailers only - see parking below). Cars and buses proceed to parking on the other side of the canal bridge. If you have never been there, there are no food facilities on site besides the barbecue restaurant, but there are port-o-lets. It can be hot, but it is a nice grassy park setting and an excellent and fair race course.

Parking: The organizing committee will direct parking. There will be a donation of $3 to park for all of the cars except coach's private vehicles. The entrance to the site has been transformed into a paved parking lot with a public boat ramp, managed by the Hillsborough Parks & Recreation Department.  Under the direction of the regatta parking supervisor, vehicles pulling boat trailers will be directed through the parking lot into the main field behind it. Vehicles with valid handicap tags will be directed to park in the paved parking lot or in the grassy field nearest the entrance. ALL OTHERS (CARS AND BUSES) PLEASE PROCEED OVER THE CANAL BRIDGE TO THE NEXT PARKING AREA. Don't be the cause of a traffic jam by going into the wrong parking area.

If the main field is not wet from rain the previous week, there may be some parking available in the grassy field nearest the entrance for coach's vehicles ONLY.  The majority of vehicles will be parked across the canal at the Southwest Water Management District offices, so be prepared to carry your coolers, chairs, and anything else you need.  You may like to bring a small wagon, if you have one.
