Navigational Lights options: ARCNAV

Hi,

Alan brought to my attention a very cool navigational light system designed for racing shells: ARCNAV (http://arcnav.com/). ARCNAV is a very cool system of lights already in their 4th generation using LED light elements. Definitely a system to check out! Alan also pointed me to a cool site that explains the rules for navigational light: http://www.cyberseayc.com/safety/nav_lights.html. Thank you, Alan!

Navigational lights, crabs and bow light

This morning I got the thumbs up on my boat's navigational lights from a crab fisherman. He told me he spotted me from afar. On a different note, using a bicycle headlight as my bow light to better see where I am going was not such a good idea. In just two uses, its insides rusted away. Brackish water! Just to make clear to the rowers who know me, I did not capsize in any of those two times. :) I might try a water-proof flashlight next time. However, I am questioning the actual need and efficiency of a bow light. More to come on this subject...

See and be seen,

Paulo.
