Learn to Row

Jacksonville is a river city with great weather year around.  What better way to enjoy this setting and get a great workout than to row on its rivers!  Jacksonville Rowing Club provides our community with the tools and opportunity to learn to row.  Rowing is well-known for providing a full body, no-impact workout.

JRC Rowing Orientation Day

To learn more about rowing with the Jacksonville Rowing Club, please plan to attend one of our Rowing Orientation Days.  In addition to meeting our members, you will have an opportunity to see our boathouse, and experience rowing on a Concept 2 rower.  Additional information about our upcoming Learn to Row Program will also be available.

Orientation Dates: April 24th, May 22nd, June 19th and July 17th

Time:  9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

JRC Learn to Row Program

JRC’s Learn to Row Program is designed for the beginner.  We teach you the essentials of rowing in a small class environment.  No prior rowing experience is necessary.  By the end of this 16-hour course, you will have firsthand experience of what rowing is about.

  • The month long course provides 16 hours of instruction on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 9:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  Classes are for adults only.  Young adults are encouraged to join our Youth program.
  • Cost for the course is $100. It includes instruction, equipment, and insurance.
  • The course is designed for novices, but people interested in returning to rowing after a long absence might also find the course helpful.
  • Prerequisite: Proficiency in swimming.  You are required to know how to swim and be comfortable in the water.
  • Class is limited to 10 participants, so sign up to reserve your spot.

Program Start Dates:  May 1st, June 5th, July 10th and August 7th

Time:  9:15 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
